Ten of us ventured to Top Hat Tea in Florence to enjoy a six course extravaganza of Victorian tea. You would never imagine that tea food could fill you up like it but, but you practically had to roll each of us out the door.
The first course was a menagerie of finger sandwiches. We had chicken salad, some sort of open-faced tomato and asparagus something that I can't quite remember, and the most divine ham sandwiches on fabulous French bread with fig preserves. I wouldn't think I would like the fig preserves on a ham sandwich, but something happens to me at tea, and I try all kind of things I wouldn't normally touch.
The second course was a marvelous scone with lemon curd, the sweet nectar of the tea room.
Third we had fruit and cheese. Fourth we miniature banana nut loaves. Next we had baby quiche, and last was the desert plate filled with chocolate and lemon heaven.
For the tea itself our party chose Holiday Dream, a citrus-y tea filled with all kind of holiday warmness and vanilla tea. I didn't touch the vanilla. I got hooked on the Holiday Dream.
I should have taken better pictures of all the stuff. I'm still learning to photograph things to the fullest extent so I can share them with you.
