Regina in the Bronx

Every time I hear or talk about the Bronx I think of Jennifer Lopez and her song Jenny From the Block or whatever it was.  The one that says, "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got.  I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block (Southside Bronx) I mean every. single. time.  Hence the title.

Thirteen hours after leaving the HPH parking lot, I caught my first glimpse of the famous Manhattan skyline.  It loomed in the distance calling to me.  (I know.  I know.  Melodramatic, but honestly that is what it felt like.)  Seeing in the distance was like being a little kid and having to look at your Christmas presents sit under the tree for weeks before you can open them.

Manhattan off in the distance.
This feeling of anticipation only worsened as we circled around and around Manhattan trying to make our way to the Bronx to tour Yankee Stadium.

Yankee Stadium across the way.
It took forever, but we finally made it to Yankee Stadium.  My good friend, Dresden who is inexplicably and unfortunately J and avid Yankees fan, was over the moon with excitement.  She was so excited she had to stop and take a pic with this window display tempting her right outside the bus.

Dresden striking a pose with the Yankee gear.
Yankee Stadium was quite impressive from the outside, and even though I am not, not ever will be a Yankee fan, I couldn't help but be impressed with the beauty of the stadium.  I know it isn't the old historical one graced by the presence of all the greats, but it was still awe inspiring.

Our entrance to Yankee Stadium

It doesn't matter what ballpark it is there is nothing quite as beautiful and flawless as baseball field turf and surrounded by the Yankee blue seats, the view when you first walked into the concourse was simply breathtaking.
Gorgeous.

During our tour we saw many different bits of Yankee memorabilia, but one of the best parts was going out to Memorial Park behind the center field wall.
Me behind the center field wall.
The reason Memorial Park was one of my favorite part was because it is where I learned my absolute FAVORITE thing every about the Yankees. The N-Y logo that adorns Yankees stuff was designed by none other than Tiffany & Co of beautiful blue box fame.  whoop whoop!!!

Logo designed by Tiffany & Co.
The absolute coolest part though was getting to sit in the Yankee dugout.

Dresden and I Barker's Beauty-ing the manager's phones in the dugout.

I got in trouble for taking this picture of the locker room door.
It wouldn't be the last time of the trip.

When our stadium tour was over, we ventured into the Bronx streets to find some lunch.  Some of us found our way to a "traditional New York deli."  This is where I ordered my lunch and the guy couldn't understand me.  I know I speak Southern Country, but I didn't know it was incomprehensible to other people.

Cheesy pose with the deli menu
On the bus on the way to the hotel, I took some random pictures riding around the Bronx.  These are two of my favorites.

Bronx Graffiti
Even in the Bronx they sell watermelons off the back of trucks.
The trucks are just bigger.

Oh my goodness Regina...I think I am so jealous of you. Being in the dugout...amazing!! (And I knew you had a soft spot in your heart for the Yankees, lol).
