Foggy, "Fantastick," Freaky, and Famous

The last day in New York started with a cruise of New York Harbor to see the Statue of Liberty and a gorgeous skyline view of lower Manhattan.  Of course, this was the day that was full of fog and rain.

The view from the boat at Pier 83.
The best part of the day was my student, Jawuan.  He had never been on a boat of any kind and had been so scared of this part, he almost didn't go on the trip, bless his heart.  He is so funny.  I had to wait on him and take a picture of his first steps on a boat.
Jawuan getting on a boat the first time.  He did so well.  So proud of him.
On the boat ride we learned about interesting places all down New York Harbor.  The ultimate goal of the trip was to see Lady Liberty and a breathtaking view of the Manhattan Skyline.  Here is what we saw.

Don't you like my cool artistic effects?

After our tour of the harbor, we had a choice.  We could go to 34th Street to take in THEE Macy's or go back to Times Square.  I really really wanted to go to Macy's, but I knew two hours was NOT enough time to get to fully appreciate the "miracle" that is the 34th Street Macy's, so I ventured back to brave Times Square in the rain...

Some more amazing billboards in Times Square
Loved this Diet Pepsi billboard.
The glassed area is where MTV used to tape TRL.
I loved that show back in the Nsync days.
While making our way around Times Square, I just happened to look up and saw this sign.  I had a little spasm because I adore the Fantasticks.  It is one of my absolute favorite musicals.

Our last show of the weekend was The Addams Family, as with the show, the plot was a little "freaky," which I didn't think translated well to the stage.  It was by far my least favorite show we saw, but the sets and special effects were AMAZING!!!

After the show was over, we had an hour or so to run around Times Square one more time while we waited for the bus.  As we made our way back together, a couple of the girls had a "celebrity" sighting.  I am getting old, so I have no idea who they were, but the girls were EXTREMELY excited.
Excitement over a "celebrity" sighting.

Before we left, I realized we never took a group picture.  Everyone was so good.  We couldn't have asked for a better group of people to travel to the city with.  We never had one single bit of trouble. I would take that group of kids anywhere

Everybody

As we left the city, I had to take one final picture.  It was truly an amazing trip, and I can't wait to go back.

Goodbye New York.  Hope to see you soon.
