Let's Give Thanks: New Kids Edition

So its November. The holiday season is in full swing. Tomorrow is election day, which may be the day I take to begin the onslaught of Christmas decorations that will throw up in my house over the next few weeks.

I think I shall spend the month of November thinking about the things for which I give thanks. There is no better way to start the month off than with a big helping of New Kids On The Block.

"Now, really, Regina?" you may be thinking to yourself. "You really give thanks for the New Kids?" To which I would answer a resounding, "YES!"

Why you may ask. Well, simply because they are the New Kids, the first serious crush I really had. I mean I betrothed myself to Joseph Mulrey McIntyre at age 12. That is serious stuff, people.

There is just something about the New Kids that kids in my blood that I can't explain. I love them for bringing me such pure, unadulterated happiness as a preteen. I love them for giving me syrup-y pure pop to jam to in the pool during the summers of my middle school days.

I love them for staging this comeback and giving me and the other Mingos a reason to take a roadtrip to Atlanta to relive the days of tween screams before the term tween was even coined. I love them for being hotter today than 15 years ago. I want to know what deal they signed with the devil to achieve that. I love them for ust simply making me happy. I think that is reason enough. And since I love them, I am thankful for them.

As I said, me and some of the other Mingos set out on a road trip Wednesday and invaded Atlanta with our unbridled New Kids passion. I swear even Erin and Telatha got more than a little excited and made more than their fair share of comments which will remain between those of us who lived it.

For those of you who didn't get to experience the trip first hand, I am going to share it with you so maybe you can just get a glimpse of the crazy Pink Flamingo adventures that ensued in Hotlanta.
