"The blessed event...

...where Annie Banks becomes Annie Banks McKenzie."
That is one of my favorite quotes from Father of the Bride, and I find it appropriate since I just got back from one of my dear friend's wedding in Charleston this weekend. It was fantastic. Everyone had been waiting for it for over a year, and let me tell you all the stress and hard work of the mother-of-the-bride and the bride paid off. If there was someone at any of the events who didn't have a goood time, you couldn't convince me of it.

When I say we were excited about the weekend, I mean everyone was super excited. The week leading up the even was full of texts and phone calls about what to wear and when was each person going to be arriving at the hotel. I told a friend of mine that it felt like we were all going to sleep away camp. It definately felt like that when I pulled up to the hotel on Friday and knew everyone standing in the parking lot unpacking their cars. Here is our hotel on Patiot's Point in Mt. Pleasant.

Friday night was the rehearsal dinner. It was beautiful and awesomely fun. Dinner itself was amazing; the toasts were touching, but the real fun came when the DJ pumped up the music and we all headed out to the dance floor. I had no idea when the familiar notes of "Sweet Home Alabama" came pouring out the speakers that night it would be the beginning of a dance marathon that would last about two days.

I love to dance, but I have never been a fan of going out to clubs. I find them too crowded with too many drunk people all up on me, so when I get the opportunity to cut loose in the safety of people I know and love I have to let up all my inner flashdanciness.

Before long, the dance floor was full and we were all just enjoying the evening. The guys in the wedding party got the great idea to serenade the bride, so they all gathered around and sang "You've Lost That Loving Feeling." It was fabulous. It wasn't too long after that that the DJ called for his volunteer's and five of our guys disappeared to the down stairs only to come back later dressed as the Village People and performed a stirring rendition of "YMCA."

Once the boys were done with the show, we all took back to the floor. The DJ played the classic "I Love Rock 'N Roll" and handed the girls the microphone to sing. Somehow, unbeknownst to me, the microphone ultimately ended up in my hand and the lyrics were coming out of my mouth over the sound system. I followed that number up with a little "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." I'm sure those of you who know how lovely my voice is know what a great concert the guests were privy to.

At the end of the evening after the lights came up, the head of the kitchen staff came, put her arm around me and told me I was an inspiration to her and that she had never seen anyone dance like me. It was hilarious. I had no idea that I was so entertaining.

I think that is all I shall post for now. My favorte child is on his way over to swim in the pool and I must get ready. Peace
